Accidents and oral injuries need no invitation, but you must understand when you must immediately visit an emergency dentist or wait for your next appointment. A dental emergency is considered when you suffer from excessive pain or bleeding, severe infection, tissue injury, missing teeth, or swollen mouth. You should see the emergency dentist immediately if you suffer from these conditions.

At Sharon Dental, our emergency dentistry provides special care for urgent dental cases and recover the structure of your teeth as before. Do You Know?
Common Dental Emergencies And What To Do

At Sharon Dental, we offer comprehensive emergency dental care for all teeth, including wisdom teeth, broken teeth, and chipped molars. We can fix an accident that requires replacing, repositioning, or splinting teeth and emergency pain, root canals, or fillings.

Before visiting a dentist for emergency care, you can take steps to minimize your discomfort. Read the tips below about common dental emergencies, so you know what to do to relieve pain and ensure your teeth can be repaired properly.

Toothache

If you’re experiencing extreme pain, contact our dentists for emergency care. In the meantime, before your appointment, you can take over-the-counter pain relievers to reduce the pain.

Swelling

Mouth swelling is often due to an infection in your teeth or gums. After calling a dentist and setting up an appointment, you can put a cold compress on your cheek outside the swollen area to reduce pain. Your dentist will provide you with treatments and antibiotics as needed at your appointment.

Lost Crown

Make an emergency dental appointment immediately. Crowns protect a sensitive area of your tooth where a cavity was removed so that you may experience pain. Before getting the crown re-cemented into place, chew a piece of sugar-free gum and use it to stick the crown back over your tooth so nothing gets inside your tooth and causes more problems.

Broken Denture

Never attempt to repair a broken denture on your own, as this can lead to more damage. Instead, contact your dentist immediately and set up a repair appointment.

Knocked-out Teeth

You can save your knocked-out tooth if you protect your tooth properly and make an emergency appointment with your dentist soon enough. First, locate the tooth knocked out and clean it, but don’t scrub it. (this is important as you can damage the part of the tooth that the gums need to reattach to the tooth). If the area in your mouth isn’t too swollen, you can place the tooth back in its socket. If you can’t do this, place the tooth in a contact lens solution or a milk container to keep it moist. Take a pain reliever and use a cold compress on your cheek if you’re in pain.

Don’t Wait. Procrastination Can Lead To Escalation

Are you enduring excruciating teeth sensitivity, swollen gums, or any other dental problems that are distracting you from work and making your day worse? Then, it is highly recommended to pay a visit to a trusted dentist for proper treatment.

Don’t escalate your dental issues by procrastinating. Whether you’ve knocked out a tooth, filling, or crown or are suffering from a painful toothache, visit our dentists to prevent your condition from worsening. You can count on us for a wide range of services, including tooth extraction, root canal, and dentures.
